When our friends at Steve and Kate’s Camp asked to revisit the iPad Mini stop-motion stations we made for them based on their successful experiences using them the prior year, we knew exactly where to begin making them even better.
First, we eliminated the flat-pack feature, which, although nice, introduced some unnecessary design constraints. Instead, we constructed the animation stations as a single unit from laminated, high-end plywood. This increased the durability and finish of the product, and also created an open-ended white stage for the animations to play out on.
We added a clear, acrylic cover, some cord management, and security screws. Then we made enough to ship several to locations across the country.
