When I first met with the awesome folks at Steve and Kate’s Camp and began brainstorming what we would make for their 2013 summer, the idea I was most excited about was this flat-pack, iPad mini stop-motion animation stage. The ideas was simple, an iPad, secure in a custom case would be locked into position so that the cameras field of view lined up perfectly with a stage area. Because everything was locked in place it was really easy for the kids to create amazing stop-motion animations right away.
This desing allowd a single animation station to be taken appart with simple plastic hardware and packed in a small pizza box. Once assembled the cases could snap out of the base to be locked away at night.
We produced hundreds of these animation stations which were shipped out to camp locations across the country. After a year of use we reevaluated and updated the design.
